We had a list of 22 questions and I was trying (keyword: TRYING) to get them all answered by the boys (ages 9, 11 & 13) a couple of weekends ago on our way to Lawrence. I gave up about the time we hit Walton, when Joey and Drew started an all-out slug fest on each other. I figured when we had to pull the truck over to threaten a beat down, it was time to put the questions aside.
1. What is something mom always says to you?
Drew: I love you (and I won't let him get away with not saying it back, either!)
Joey: be polite (I actually hardly ever say that to them... they're usually polite without being told)
Josh: clean your room (this comment after we all got into it at home about their messy rooms)
2. What makes mom happy?Drew: chocolate and 3 sleeping kids (aren't sleeping children beautiful?)
Joey: good grades
Josh: having fun with us
(yes, yes, and yes)

5. What did your mom like to do when she was a child?
Drew: hang out with friends
Joey: play with her dog
Josh: run around and annoy Nana (I didn't really have to try... it came naturally)

Joey: 35
Josh: 40 (thanks, bub)
7. How tall is your mom?
Drew: 5'10.5" (right on!) Joey: 6'2"
Josh: 6'1"
8. What is her favorite thing to watch on TV?Drew: Biggest Loser
Joey: Friday Night Lights
Josh: Grey's Anatomy(ALL right!)
9. What does your mom do when you're not around?
Drew: sleep (don't I wish!)
Joey: go out with friends
Josh: clean (only because that's the only time I know it'll stay clean for longer than 5 minutes!)
(They're GOOD!) 10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for?Drew: American Idol singing (I don't do AI, but I do love to sing)
Joey: Drag racing (WHAT THE....????) Josh: Scientist, "because you're smart" (love that kid)
11. What is your mom really good at?
Drew: shopping (ding! ding! ding!)
Joey: working ("good" at working? sure, I guess so)
Josh: being a good mom (schmoozer!)
12. What is your mom NOT very good at?Drew: cooking (I'm good at it, I just prefer NOT to do it)
Joey: golf (never been golfing in my entire life other than mini golf)
Josh: bowling on Facebook (so right!)
13. What does your mom do for her job?
Drew: files, answers the phone, works on the computer
Joey: manages water (well, sort of)Josh: no clue
14. What is your mom's favorite food?Drew: Red Rock salad (SOOOOO good!!!)
Joey: snickerdoodles (love me some cinnamon sugar)
Josh: trail mix (which I just so happen to be out of now)
15. What makes you proud of your mom?
Drew: she sticks up for us (do NOT mess with my boys!)
Joey: being our mom (awww!)Josh: giving us food (ALWAYS food with that kid!)

Joey: Gwen from Ben 10
Josh: Jerry from Tom & Jerry(I have no idea why they chose these)

Drew: watch TV (we almost never watch TV together)Joey: shop

18. How are you and your mom the same?Drew: like to keep stuff organized (that coming from a kid that hasn't seen the bottom of his locker since the first day of school...)
Joey: we're organized (he's sort of OCD about stuff)
Josh: we have the same freckles (we do have some of the same exact freckles)
19. How are you and your mom different?
Drew: she likes to shop (he likes to shop if it's for him)Joey: "I'm skinny" (Ouch! BURN!)
Josh: "I'm a boy" (true dat!)
20. How do you know your mom loves you?Drew: (his exact words) "She lets me live... yay!"
Joey: she tells us
Josh: we're her children (which I guess in his mind means I HAVE to love him)
21. What does your mom like the most about your dad? (ohhhh, boy) Drew: "That he's married to someone else" (bingo!) Joey: he lets us have fun (sometimes TOO much fun)
Josh: he's nice to us
22. Where is your mom's favorite place to go?
Drew: Red Rock
Joey: dad's house (this answer was followed by roaring laughter from the peanut gallery in the back seat... he's such a comedian)Josh: Red RockRaising such comedians. And boy, asking questions like that of our children really gives us some insight as to how they view us. Obviously I need to make some drastic changes in the way I'm living and parenting.
